About Us

Our Mission

To protect intellectual property from both insiders and outsiders.

Our Product

Briefile was created to fill the needs created by the collision of the information revolution and the information leaking revolution.

The idea behind Briefile was realized while trying to email the quarterly sales results to a product manager.  If the information was emailed, it could get forwarded outside the company by a malicious virus or an employee -- and because email is persistent, who knows when the information may leak out. It could be tomorrow or it could be 10 years from now.

To solve this problem, a new product needed to be created to allow someone to control the duration of the quarterly sales file. An easy way to create a file that had a 1 day duration. That way the product manager could review the information and it didn't really matter what else they did with it, because it would only be accessible for 1 day. If the file were to leak out, it wouldn't matter because no one could open the file and access the data.

The Market Size

We believe the market opportunity is enormous. According to a recent study by  the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE), the average organization loses about 6% of revenue to fraud and abuse committed by its employees.

While the market for Content Security solutions is in its infancy, IDC, a global market intelligence and advisory firm, has forecasted that Content Security solutions will grow into a $1.9 Billion global market by 2009.

A Digital Revolution Behind the Idea

The world is filling up quickly with more information then we know what do to with. Data Management and Data Integration are quickly becoming the next wave in the digital revolution -- which has created several new product catagories including,

  • Massive data storage products like databases and network harddrive hubs,
  • Integration tools and protocals like XML to help share information accross different systems through the Internet,
  • Search engines (like Google)  to categorize massive amounts of data and quickly respond to queres for specific information,
  • Information protection products that secure sensitive information from leaking into the wrong hands -- this is where Briefile fits in.
